T2K Tolling Gantry Replacement

McIlwain served as Principal Contractor for the replacement of existing tolling gantries along the Gateway and Logan Motorways, while coordinating Noise Management Project Phase 2.

McIlwain delivered the project for Transurban across one of South East Queensland’s busiest motorway networks, which carries up to 250,000 vehicles daily. The works included the removal of existing structures, installation of bored piles, new concrete barriers, and electrical and ITS works. All major lifts were staged under live traffic using hold-and-release methods to maintain safety and minimise disruption to motorists. Careful planning, innovative traffic management and close stakeholder coordination enabled most civil works to be completed during day shifts, with only limited weekend ramp shutdowns and short-duration motorway closures scheduled during quieter traffic periods. The project was successfully delivered on time, safely, and further strengthened McIlwain’s ongoing partnership with repeat client, Transurban Queensland.
