Mount Victoria Slope Remediation

McIlwain delivered permanent slope stabilisation works on the eastbound carriageway near Fairy Bower Road at Mount Victoria, strengthening the long-term resilience of this critical transport corridor and ensuring continued safe access for road users.

Following significant rainfall in March 2022, cracking and a shallow slope failure developed above the rail bridge at Mount Victoria, requiring a permanent remediation solution to address ongoing geotechnical and operational risks. Engaged by Transport for NSW, McIlwain delivered the works within a constrained live transport environment, requiring meticulous planning, staged construction and close stakeholder coordination. The project was carefully programmed to maintain safety, minimise disruption to road users and deliver a more resilient, long-term outcome for the local community. Environmental rehabilitation formed an important component of the works, with more than 150 trees planted and site-generated mulch reused to support revegetation, stabilise disturbed areas and enhance the surrounding landscape.
