Women in Construction
Creating pathways that sustain our industry
We want more women to pursue opportunities in construction - and choose to stay.
At McIlwain, women are supported to build meaningful careers across all aspects of our business, no matter the role. We focus on increasing participation and ensuring every team member’s contribution is recognised, respected ensuring they achieve their goals of today, and their aspirations for tomorrow.
We understand it’s important to get in early, to grow the pipeline of female talent, investing programs like Construct Her Future, which provide hands on learning, to introduce young women to civil construction. And we partner with educators and industry bodies such as the National Association of Women in Construction and Civil Contractors Federation to provide opportunities for ongoing mentorship, training and networking – so our women can know their potential.
Internally, our Female Leaders Program develops confidence and capability, creating clear progression and promotion opportunities from site through to senior roles. We’re proud to deliver an above industry average XX% of women within our team as we provide practical support that helps facilitate rewarding, long-term careers. From flexible work options, tailored development and inclusive site practices, we prioritise safety, access and belonging. Together, with our Gender and Equity policy, these initiatives guide how we work as a business to ensure our women thrive at any stage of their career.
