Oakey Roads and Carpark Resurfacing

McIlwain delivered critical resurfacing and rehabilitation works across Swartz Barracks, improving key carparks and road connections for Defence personnel.

Located approximately 160 kilometres west of Brisbane, the Oakey Roads and Carpark Resurfacing project involved the renewal and enhancement of key transport infrastructure across the barracks precinct. Delivered under a Department of Defence Medium Works Contract, the works focused on improving the long-term performance, functionality and serviceability of the network through a combination of rehabilitation, renewal and supporting civil infrastructure improvements. To maximise value and minimise waste, McIlwain adopted a cost-conscious delivery approach that prioritised reuse and asset optimisation wherever feasible, achieving sustainable outcomes while reducing whole-of-life costs for the client.
