Bunya Road Bridge

This $5 million project formed part of Moreton Bay Regional Council's $536 million infrastructure program, delivering a new three-span bridge crossing, associated roadworks, drainage improvements and landscaping works to support improved regional connectivity.

Located in Draper, the project replaced ageing infrastructure with a modern river crossing designed to accommodate future community needs. Delivery involved the realignment of Bunya Road, significant revegetation works and upgrades to the surrounding corridor. Given the site’s high environmental value and role as habitat for species including platypus and rainbow bee-eaters, stringent ecological controls were implemented throughout construction. McIlwain also successfully coordinated the relocation of Telstra’s trunk utility service while maintaining access for road users and minimising disruption to the local community. The completed works provide a more reliable crossing, improving flood resilience for the growing Moreton Bay region.
