Teese Timber Bridge Replacement

McIlwain delivered the replacement of the existing one-lane Teese Timber Bridge with a two-lane single-span concrete bridge, improving flood resilience, capacity, and safety for local road users.

Logan City Council engaged McIlwain to upgrade the deteriorated bridge over a tributary of Cyrus Creek in Gleneagle, a boundary asset shared with Scenic Rim Regional Council. The bridge had less than 1% AEP flood immunity, affecting school access during high rainfall events. McIlwain’s scope included design, construction, and hydraulic/hydrological assessments. The works involved staged construction to ensure efficient workflow, with all works completed with minimal delays. A commemorative keepsake was gifted to the Teese family to honour the bridge’s local history.
