DurationMay 2023 to August 2023
Logan City Council awarded McIlwain the Tully Timber Bridge Replacement project over Oxley Creek in 2023. The project involves upgrading the current deteriorating timber bridge from a single lane to a two-lane, reinforced concrete box culvert bridge.
Tully Timber Bridge crosses Oxley Creek and is located on Tully Road. The current bridge has a 22 tonne load limit, which impacts on the commercial, industrial, and emergency vehicle movemements. The upgraded bridge will remove this impediment. Tully Road is often inundated by water during heavy rain events and has a current flood immunity of less than 1 year. The Tully Timber Bridge Replacement will provide better flood protection for the road corridor. Additionally, a permanent passageway will be installed to assist the migration of native fish during seasonal flows in Oxley Creek. The completed project will provide a safer bridge and connection for motorists and will allow for the upgrade of the load limit improving the capacity of the bridge.
